Ontarget Recurve/Compound Tournament Report
A hard earned 12-9 victory over Eagle Bowmen of Bedford has taken us to the finals day at Lilleshall for the second year running.
Ed Humphrey was shooting with a broken finger partnering Molly Peters as our recurve pairing. However with our Compound pairing from the last year’s finals, Simon Faulkner (Holiday) and Grace Chappell (GB) unavailable, Dan Gill and Andy Clifford made up our team. Kieran Macey was our reserve member.
We got off to a flying start winning the team round and both recurve and compound pairs although 231/228 was a close call for the compounds!
In the individual rounds we shared the matches and therefore the points 6-6.
Eagle Bowmen had eliminated last year’s finalists Redhill in the previous round, so well done to our team!
It is the turn of our Barebow/Longbow Team next Saturday with a semi-final home match against Bitton Archers, hopefully we can make it a double visit to Lilleshall on the 1st September!
Record attendance at our Open Community Weekly Sessions!
We set a new record last weekend only to beat it with a further 10 participants on Saturday! This is only possible with the support of our volunteer workforce. In addition to next weeks Saturday session we are also delivering have-ago sessions at the Tetbury Fete next Sunday. Unlike last year let us hope the weather is kind to us!
Archery GB 2019 Youth Festival
We provided the second highest number of entries (only Ireland had more than us) and we topped the medal table at the end of an excellent week. Well done to Archery GB and all the participants. Certainly an event to put in next years schedule.
