2014 Primary School Games Begins

North Nibley win opening District Primary School Games Event

The first of the Level 2 District Primary School Games started last week. We had 8 schools competing using both the Mini Genesis & the ‘Arrows’ adapted kit.

72 pupils for the opening District Primary School Games!

The top four places were taken by North Nibley, British School, Blue Coat & Horton. Event was very well received but is exceptionally hard work as teams received coaching prior to starting the competition proper!

Each of the 5 District events will need to be completed in time for the Level 3 event at Hartpury College on the 13th June!

Bambies

It’s ‘bring a friend’ next Saturday morning, as our ground breaking project continues to develop. The new venue is ideal and the number of volunteers helping to run the sessions is brilliant.

Young Leaders Training

We are pleased to report that we have more interest from Secondary Schools that we are working in for ‘Young Leader’ Training so that pupils can teach ‘Arrows’ at their feeder Primary schools.

Last week Steph & Dan ran more ‘Arrows’ Training Programmes for representatives from local Recreation Centres who are looking to buy their own equipment.

Half Term Recreation Centre ‘Arrows’ Events

Well done to all our young members who volunteered to support the events at Leisure @. Very well received sessions and well organized by the Recreation Centre! Sessions like these can only continue to grow our sport.

Thomas Keeble Sports Fair

Thank you to all our volunteers that supported the Annual Sports Fair on Thursday. The growth of archery in Gloucestershire was recognized with the guest of honour being double Paralympic Gold Medalist Danielle Brown MBE.

An after-school club began this week, supported by Xperience Archery and Deer Park Archers volunteers and like so many others was oversubscribed!

 Inclusion Club – Old Pats

Good attendance this weekend and it was good to get back in some sort of routine following last weekend’s postponement due to parking issues as it was the last day of the Rugby Union Season. We are pleased to report that whilst far from ideal, access to the shooting area is not proving to be too much of an issue!

2014 Community Sport & Recreation Alliance Awards

This year it is a self nomination process with reference back to our Governing Body later in the process. We have therefore submitted applications in the following categories;

  • Volunteer Management
  • School Links
  • Innovative Project
  • Overall Winner

As well as a written submission for each application we also had to submit a 3 minute video supporting each of those applications. They will be made available on YouTube in the near future.
