Competition Well over 40 Club Archers were involved in competitions on Sunday at 3 different events, the Evesham FITA18, Gwent Portsmouth at St Kingsmark & the Deer Park Double Worcester. We do not have all the details but we have confirmed that members broke at least 20 County Records and almost as many Personal Bests as there were archers shooting!
Results from St Kingsmark and Evesham are a little sketchy at the time of writing, so detailed report later, however we understand that there were Compound PB’s for Holly Clifford (537) and Lucy Mason (558 & 562) and excellent scores from James Howse with 572 & Tom Howse with 559 shooting Recurve at Evesham. There were Gold/Silver medals for Lynn & Rosie Benfield at St Kingsmark.
Performance of the day in the Double Worcester was David Ponton shooting Longbow and breaking the Single & Double County Records and in doing so breaking the 400 barrier with 403.
There were also single and double county recurve records for Riley Spencer-Nice & Anna Langdon shooting recurve! Not to be left out Rachel Lucas & Hamish Ponton broke multiple county records shooting Barebow! Deer Park Archers Double Worcester Results Outdoor Competition Data Base All the scores, handicaps, classifications etc have now been submitted to the County records Officer. Helen also conducted an analysis of the last 3 years of results to see if there had been a growth in members competing. The outdoor Season shows an increase of 30% with a massive 122% increase of members with handicap ratings and 105% increase of members with classifications! The Indoor season showed an increase of 40% entering competitions! Improvers Course Begins
28 participants on the recently completed Beginners Courses have immediately progressed to the Improvers Programme which started on Saturday afternoon and the improvements shown in just one session were dramatic! On completion of this programme the participants will join the club much better prepared to integrate into the general day to day activities.
Bambies Section Continues to flourish! The numbers involved in our 5-7 year old Balcarras section continues to grow and our compliments must go to our brilliant support team and the innovative programme they are evolving!
Focused around the adapted kit there are many fun activities from cooking to crafts to ensure the club offers a broad learning opportunity for both the participants and our young coaching assistants! The parents are not forgotten as they get the opportunity to shoot down the other end of the hall, so everyone is a winner!
Club Practice Sessions Despite many competing over the weekend there was still an excellent attendance at the practice session on the Saturday evening!
There was also a secondhand kit sale and a ‘Firework Poster’ Competition. Top prizes went to Lara, Riley & Rosemarie.
Another great weekend for Deer Park Archers!
