We are Deer Park Archers

We are a Sport, Recreation and Social Club with lots of things to share, lots of achievements and a real passion for our sport and our community!

Club Motto: “Positive Attitude leads to Positive Performance.”

We pride ourselves in the quality of our coaching support, work in the community and involvement with our Governing Body. We believe that being a club means just that! It is not just about archery: it is about the social activities, about learning together, losing and winning together, giving and receiving and being part of a larger community and valuing every member for what they are and what they can be!

A Summary of Deer Park Archers

  • As of December 2025, we have over 220 members of which 75 are juniors.
  • We strive to be fully inclusive – More than 18% of our membership have a disability and ArcheryGB have recognised that we have more members with additional needs than any other Club!.
  • We have our own ground located in Shurdington which offers target, field and clout facilities.
  • We have a fast developing field course, offering a range of fantastic shots, brilliant environment which changes in layout on a regular basis.
  • We have access to a range of indoor facilities including our own Clubhouse plus Balcarras School Sports Centre (Charlton Kings) and Kingshill Sports Centre (Cirencester).
  • We have our own Short-Mat Bowls section and Radio Controlled Model Car Racing group as well as having our own Boule Courts.
  • We are fortunate enough to have excellent floodlit shooting facilities at distances from 18m – 70m
  • We do not offer 24 hour open shooting, all sessions (there are lots of them) are programmed and supported by coaches, we are passionate to remain a club, with social interaction at its heart and not become just a venue where people shoot!
  • We are just one of many clubs in the county that offer a great experience!
  • We have 20+ trained coaches and our club structure and facilities support pathways from recreational to high performance. As of December 2025, we have 10 members in GB Squad/Development Programmes.
  • We believe in encouraging competition at all levels.
  • We support our own Men-in-Sheds section and our own Short Mat Bowls club.
  • We support all abilities, thrive on competition illustrated by having 18 record status tournaments planned for 2026!

We have been the Sport & Recreation Alliance National Sports Club of the Year 2011 and the Archery GB Ontarget Club of the Year three times and in 2018 & 2020 received an award from Archery GB recognising our Club’s outstanding performance and contribution to archery and the Ontarget Club Development Programme!

In 2025 we formed a 5 person sub-committee to engage with the ArcheryGB Ontarget Refresh Programme

In 2025 we also completed an ambitious fund raising programme to fund large extension to our facilities, providing 3 new floodlit shooting bays (50/70m), social gathering area, new Men-in-Sheds Workshop, Equipment Laboratory and a Well-being area.
