Another great team effort!

Two concerted sessions over the weekend of ground clearance, landscaping and range layout saw the new shooting area at Old Pats transformed into a tidy, sheltered, compact and low maintenance area to host many of our outdoor practice sessions.

Lots of scrub to cut down and burn to ensure H & S requirements are met.

The turnout of members on the Saturday and Sunday was motivating and the way everyone gave the proverbial 110% was fantastic! There will certainly be a few aching bodies after the weekend.

Lots of activity, clearing, marking out, safety netting post installation etc

It was not only the effort put in but the way everyone worked together to get the jobs done, used the skills they had, brought the right tools and even an ample supply of refreshments, cakes etc to share around!

The range starting to take shape.

The venue will allow us to shoot up to 70m, separate arrangements are being made to supplement this arrangement with a fixture list of dates to use a bigger grass area to shoot the longer distances and hold regular National type competitions. Work is also being done to improve access arrangements for those with reduced mobility; the venue is less than ideal at present.

Heavy machinery required for some jobs.

A number of social events using the facilities at Old Pats are also being organized.

To coordinate these activities and to develop the longer term relationship with Old Pats a Club Liaison Officer is going to be appointed, a Role Description has been drafted and a candidate identified!

Almost ready for use!

We will be using the venue for the first time on the evening of Tuesday 8th April.

Lucy at Lilleshall

Lucy had a great weekend, and shot really well with Saturday’s highlight was obviously the 684 score. Although she shot well in the hit & miss head 2 head’s, getting through a couple of rounds before being knocked out.

Sunday started with a 3doz ranking round (332), along with team head 2 head’s, which Lucy won along with James Howell and Chris White. The obvious difference in height did not help when it came to adjusting the spotting scope, but Chris White came up with the solution!

A good solution to the height difference!

Lucy also shot with Adam Ravenscroft in a mixed team event, and finished with 2 wins and 1 loss.

All in all a good weekend, so roll on the GB selection shoot next weekend which will involve a number of our members and a full report later.

Media Coverage of new ground.

Just a thank you to the continued support of the local media in covering all our efforts in competition and in particular to secure our long term future with a new ground.
