Our efforts continue to build for the future both on and off the field of play and as we strive to make progress step by step, week by week and the last few weeks have been tending towards great! So in no particular order!
Level 1 Coaching Course Assessments
12 took the assessment this weekend and 100% were successful! This was first of 2 courses we are currently running both part funded by the grants we achieved from the ‘Awards for All’ Lottery grant and the Archery GB Participation Grant. This course had 8 of our members, plus 2 from Cheltenham Archers, 1 from Leisure @ Recreation Centre & 1 from Ruskin Mill College. Well done to everyone! The second Assessemtn day takes place on the 30th March.
Gloucestershire Senior Indoor Championships
Well done to the County for putting on the event, we again fielded a very young team (with a few exceptions and they were young at heart!). We managed to finish either first or second in every event and there were many fine individual performances as well! Well done to all our members that entered and did us proud, all members competing and doing their best is our target!

Archery GB January Challenge
This is a National Postal League event for adults but we entered many juniors as part of our drive to encourage competition. As an emerging club we did particularly well in the first year of shooting categories. Best performance was from Connie Healey finishing 2nd in the Ladies Beginner Compound with Ellie Gore, Kev Sutherland & Mike Dalton finishing 7th, in their categories, Martin Hutchings & Ben McIvor 8th & Sashi Bush 9th. These are just a few of the highlights. Full details can be found on the Archery GB website.
Inclusion Club
A big thank you to both the Gloucestershire Echo and Archery GB for giving us excellent coverage on what was a very successful Inclusion FITA 18 event on the 23rd February. This was backed up following Dave doing a survey of competitors a few days after the event and will put us in a good position for next year! A well done this week to Seb who has just started shooting a Genesis bow as a compound with a release aid, how he has taken to this is just amazing!
Equipment Maintenance Workshop
Thank you to Wales Archery for all their support at last Sundays Equipment Workshop, junior archers from a number of clubs benefited from their efforts.
Lots of opportunities to tune their bows.
Club Ground Update
It has been a good week working with our agent & Tewkesbury Borough Council to answer planning concerns. The application should go to committee on the 1st April, yes really! Fund raising continues and there are a lot of activities taking place over the next month or so. Details on our website. Negotiations are also taking place this week to confirm arrangements for our summer venue and hopefully there should be some exciting news on this excellent opportunity shortly!
Record Status Double Bray (23rd March)
Great news, the event is well over subscribed, we certainly need to look for a bigger venue next year.
Club Handicap Portsmouth (16th March)
Almost full, again proving competition is what members want! We will be using our competition records to allocate handicaps to all competitors giving everyone a chance to win!
Congratulations to Phoebe Pine!
Well done to Phoebe who has been selected to join the Archery GB Paralympic Pilot Academy! Well deserved, Phoebe also successfully completed her Level 1 Coaching Qualification over the weekend!
Community Beginners Course at GL1 Gloucester Recreation Centre
After a quiet start things have really taken off at the recreation centre with a large contingent of adults taking the 6 week beginners course. The course is being led by Roger, Martin, Ashraf, Fazel, Katherine, Dave and Chloe.
Archery GB Big Weekend
The club will again be taking part in the ‘Big Weekend’ planned for late May. More details to follow but a great opportunity to help, to bring friends and relations along, to promote it in your local school and get them to come along etc.etc.
