The 17th & 18th of January will be a very busy weekend for the club and its members and we are hoping for maximum support to plant 1500 hedging plants and 44 semi-mature trees. This will happen regardless of the weather conditions and we know the end result will be well worth it!
Club practice sessions on the Saturday evening and Sunday morning will go ahead as usual. Babies will also go ahead, however as there will be no coaches available Inclusion Club is cancelled but we hope to see those members come along to help with the planting!
Competition
But before this coming weekend a few things to report from the last one. Several members competed in the St Kingsmakk Fita18 at Chepstow and we are pleased to report that Dave Ponton won the Gents Longbow with a new County record of 354. Anna Langdon did one better recording both county and regional records scoring 380 in the junior ladies under 12 Recurve. Peter Langdon recorded a PB with 441.
At the same time there was another fully subscribed Club Target Competition, another Portsmouth to encourage entry into the January Challenge. Top performance of the day was that of Lucy Mason, returning after a break due to injury and scoring 574.
New Ground
Quote for car park has been received (1137sqm) and it is £9000 and our thanks go to Elliott’s ((Cheltenham) Ltd for supporting us with the labour and materials. The car park needs to be in place by the end of March to meet our final planning condition and allow us to use the ground from the beginning of April.
On the Sunday afternoon we had a visit from a drainage expert and we are awaiting the report on the most effective way forward.
We also placed a number of bosses out on the field course (which is a long way from completion) but is certainly taking shape.
We have a number of important meetings over the next few weeks with local MPs and business representatives as well as some deadlines for submitting grant applications.
