Club awarded a £10,000 Community Spaces Capital Grant by the Barnwood Trust!

Barnwood’s vision is to create the best possible environment in Gloucestershire for disabled people and people with mental health problems to make the most of their lives. Community spaces to connect with other people and build relationships, often through doing things together, are a vital component of that environment. We want to contribute to achieving that vision.

As part of its funding programmes, Barnwood welcomes applications to its Community Spaces Capital Grant Fund. The fund aims to help support communities or organisations that would like to develop inclusive community spaces: places where everyone is welcome to meet and do things together. We have been working towards this for some time.

Everyone is welcome’ means that particular attention is given to helping people who are usually marginalised to feel that they belong in the community; for example, those with disabilities and mental health problems.

Still a long way to go but this project will certainly move us further in the right direction!

Our project is to build a 27m by 5m paved, raised terrace area outside our clubhouse linking indoor, outdoor and car parking together, providing common access for everyone. This will provide a year-round fully accessible meeting area and a vantage point for viewing tournaments, practice and other activities taking place on the main field.

This grant recognises our exiting active role in our community and our continued efforts to be fully inclusive and has set targets to further increase the contribution we make!

We would like to formally thank the Barnwood Trust for the generosity of their financial support and the level of interest and support they have provided throughout this process!

Work should be completed by the 6th June in time for our World Archery 2 day 3D Field event which has been fully booked for some time!

As previously highlighted the Worshipful Company of Fletchers and Elliott’s Sand and Gravel (Cheltenham) are also supporting this project and without their support again the project and all the desired outcomes would just not be feasible!

As with all our developments we would also like to congratulate our members and volunteer workforce on their efforts to raise the Club’s contribution to this and other projects.

It’s another World Record for our GB Compound Team in Turkey!

Our World Record-breaking compound women’s team of Layla Annison, Ella Gibson and Lucy Mason earned a bye through to the quarter finals where they will face either Chinese Taipei or Germany. It is the second time they have broken the record and we are sure there is more to come!
