We are pleased to announce that we have received the support of Tewkesbury Borough Council to purchase a Diesel Tractor and associated ground maintenance equipment.
This support will help us to improve the quality of our playing surface, facilitate safe use of the range throughout the year, provide easier access for those with reduced mobility and raise the standard of the surface to a level that matches the rest of our fast developing facilities.
With security in mind, as the tractor will provide us with 25 years or more usage, we will customise its appearance and add a number of levels of security to ensure its safe keeping.
Our nearest neighbors Elliott’s (Cheltenham) Limited, who have been very supportive throughout our development are also sponsoring the project by providing the red diesel the tractor uses and also with help with security measures, which is another good example of our community working together!
Coaching Progress
We are pleased to announce that all 6 of our members successfully passed their Level 1 Assessment last weekend. So it is congratulations to Paige Tucker, Bob Worcester, Martin McKay, Kay Chappell, Lee Jones & Peter Sisson. Add to that the successful completion for Nathan Windle & Chloe Hitchings who were sponsored for the work they do with ‘Allsorts’, an organisation who support young people with any disability or additional needs and it has been a successful course.
Through Xperience Archery we regularly support ‘Allsorts’ in their work and this will help them to set up their own club, and also Callowell Primary a school club!
With 15% of our membership now holding coaching qualifications and a further 4 currently on another Level 1 Course, it represents a significant investment by the club and our members, but is very much in line with the requirements for the ‘Ontarget’ Performance Specialism.
Archery GB Junior Summer Metrics – Amazing Results in National Competition!
As fervent supporters of the Archery GB Postal Shoots we have always encouraged members to enter and had some great successes but none to match this event!
Our archers won 8 Golds & 4 Silvers with the next most successful clubs winning 3 Golds! This is a testimony to the hard work of our archers, coaches & field crew as well as a good indication of the strength in depth of our junior squad.
The number of entries and scores recorded did not just happen, during the qualification period our Coaches, Records Officer & Competition Officer encouraged members to participate and administered the process.
There were victories for Chloe A’Bear, Imogen Colenutt, Molly Peters, Holly Clifford, Ella Gibson, Lucy Mason, Josh Uzzell & James Howse. Silver medals went to Riley Spencer-Nice, Alex Parker, Maddy Egan & Corey Sansome.
Thank you to the organisers for another excellent event aimed at encouraging archers to compete.
David Ponton wins St Kingsmark New Year WA18 in Style!
David won the longbow section with 356, some 34 points ahead of the second placed archer. It was the highest recorded score for 8 years so well done David!
