Club launches major Coach Development initiative!

To allow us to achieve our sporting and community engagement objectives and reducing the increasing load on our existing coaches we are supporting 20 of our members to complete various levels of coaching qualifications. Congratulations and a big thank you to all our volunteers and also thank you to ArcheryGB for the support they are providing to make this possible.

We have opted to run all modules in-house and face-to-face, the first 2 days of the Session Coach Programme was very well received! Members have also commenced the Development Coach Training Programme.

A recent tournament which stretched our organisational skills just va little! But we did it!

Social events a hit!

The recent boule, axe throwing, rifle shooting and adventure golf events have been very successful. The next event is the fun Halloween Shoot.

Great experience provided by Cranham Scount Centre

Club fun Shoots

The first 4-Way shoot now called the ‘Shurdington’ was an amazing idea that delivered a great experience! It will certainly become at least an annual event! Likewise our annual 2-Way Elizabethan for longbows and bare bows combined with a cream tea was another great success.

Challenging round 4 distances, 4 different faces, 4 directions, 3 times round?

Record Status Tournaments

Ran a record number of Record Status Tournaments during the summer, huge thank you to all our volunteers! Next event is our Early Portsmouth at Balcarras, quickly followed by the WA18 also at Balcarras. During the summer we have been delighted to host both the British 3D Field Squad and the British Running Archery Squads!

Summer Programme included a 36 target World Record Status event!

Club Management Committee Restructuring

Following a review of the traditional way the club is structured we have reviewed all of our existing role descriptions, looked at our strengths and weaknesses and the challenges we face and have identified a number of new roles that will be critical to our progress together with a revised organisational structure. We are now into the detail and candidate identification. Once the exercise is complete we will make the revised role descriptions available on our website.

Men-in-Sheds Update

The new workshop is fully functional and well equipped. There will be a focus on preparing for the upcoming Field competitions and ensuring our facilities are ready for winter. The upgraded floodlights have been finely tuned and are ready for general practice sessions and planned floodlit competitions.

Men-in-Sheds Workshop

Congratulations!

So many great performances recently, not intending to report on those as they are well covered in social media.

However, congratulations to Wlodek Swigon for winning silver at the Polish Senior National Compound Championships with a score of 697.

Wlodek put in a great performance and another good score!

Also congratulations to Ian Green for being appointed to the Team Manager role for the GB Running Archery Squad.

Finally congratulations to Elliott’s Recycling, one of our major supporters and closest neighbour on their successful planning application to extend their operations to 2046.

Environmental Stewardship

Careful management has seen all the 25 trees in our heritage orchard survive the dry hot weather. The 2 bee hives have also seem to have prospered in the challenging conditions. However the range seems to look like a layer of Rice Krispies!
