Club Milestone Achieved – A big thank you to so many!

Sunday 8th May proved to be an important step in the Club’s development when we were asked by Gloucestershire Archery Society to host the British Record Status County match between Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. With water recently connected and the toilets not quite finished and the car park not fully useable there was a flurry of activity leading up to the event. Until 2 days before we did not even have enough bosses, so a special thank you to Tenzone for their delivery on Friday evening!

19 bosses provided us with a busy time.

The kitchen had not been commissioned and this was the first time we had prepared an outdoor venue for a record status event, a great number of club volunteers (this is an extraordinary group of people) got everything into shape over the days leading up to the event and Elliott’s Sand and Gravel provided us with overspill car parking and the weather was very kind to us. We had great support from the judges and the archers from both counties were supportive and complimentary.

Some excellent shooting, great refreshments and a very efficient field crew all added up to a great day. The match result was a narrow win for Gloucestershire but everyone involved were winners and the support that we have received from Sport England, Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, Archery GB, Active Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire County Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council and the Summerfield Trust not to mention all the support from local companies, was hopefully repaid in some small but significant way.

This event has been great preparation for the 4 Record Status events were are holding later this year, so a big thank you to Gloucestershire Archery Society for providing us with this opportunity.
