County Junior Championships reflects the strength of archery in Gloucestershire!

Over 70 juniors competed for county titles just a week before the British Junior Championships at the Ricoh Arena and more than half of those will travel to Coventry to take part. Just 3 Clubs, Cleve, Cheltenham & Deer Park shared the titles and there were many new County Records and lots of personal best scores!

Thanks to the Judges (Richard & Adrian), great support from the parents, coaches and volunteers, there were also lots of smiles, excellent refreshments and an abundance of camaraderie between the competitors.

Archery Competitions are fun!

Archery Competitions are fun!

From a Deer Park perspective there were many encouraging performances in the Portsmouth competition, impossible to mention them all however it would be remiss if we did not highlight some of them! In no particular order: Ellie Gore, just 2 weeks off her beginners course scoring 460 and winning the under 10’s, Harry Faulkner breaking the County under 10 recurve record, Emma Bond showing a massive improvement in the U12 Barebow, Ben McIvor recording 289 in the U16 longbow in his first completion and recording a County Record, Paige Tucker again making a massive improvement, Phoebe Pine continuing to improve her scores with a 533, Hannah Deasy beating her PB by 120 and James Howse recording 584 in the U16 Compound!

We also secured the team event comprising James Howse, Robbie Baker & Liza Hadley.

Win Team Red

Another measure of success was that members broke 13 County Records!
