Having been postponed previously due to bad weather, a very gusty wind and a few showers did not get in the way of our Barebow/Longbow shoot this time!
There were 3 clubs represented which continues our policy to open up our club target days to members of other clubs.
The 4 county records broken, despite being very windy, were all by quite big margins, on the Gents St George – Kevin Macey had also smashed the county record the previous day at the Klondike Shoot Windsor in Malvern.
Kevin, past memory! He has not looked back since he upgraded to longbow!
Vanessa Crang broke the Ladies Windsor Barebow. Lynn Benfield beat the Windsor Longbow Record and Emily Summers the U14 Barebow Record.
The range again looked great, so thank you Steve Mason!
Not much time to wait for our next Club Target Shoot which is planned for Monday 26th August (10am – 2pm) and offers a full range of National Rounds and includes a beginners category.
Clout
Work has commenced on the permanently marked out Clout Range and should be finished in the next week.
Field Course
Ongoing work at the moment getting it ready for the County championships and the club Winter League! Again this event is open to any Archery GB member, so visitors welcome.
Lots of variety and plenty of challenge!
Adapted Kit Play Area and Boule Courts.
Work on this project is going well, with fencing being fitted, landscaping is going well and foundations almost completed. All turf being removed from the Boule area is being used in the Adapted Kit Play Area. Seating being installed.
There will be a dedicated adapted kit play area.
Open Community Sessions
Last Saturday was another great success, amazing turn out, thank you to all our club coaches and other volunteers for making this possible!
Next week our session is part of the ‘I AM TEAM GB’ Programme, the Nation’s biggest sports day, so a few more freebies as prizes for some of the challenges!
Club Men-in-Sheds Programme
We have set ourselves a target of completing the additional 10 wheeled boss conversions in the next 2 weeks. Following our request for help a number of club members have volunteered to help on the ‘all hands on’ dates to get us ready for our formal opening of our Clubhouse/Training Centre.
Short Mat Bowls Section
Growing slowly, still looking for a few more participants. Again open to non-club members. The short term plan is to organise our own winter league with the aim of further growing membership and developing our skills. Plenty of scope there!
