Deer Park Archers Newsletter Just Highlights – June 2022

Our Solar Project gains grant support from 2 organisations!

Thanks to a Target 2030 carbon saving grant funded through the European Regional Development Fund and a Gloucestershire County Council Build Back Better – Councillors Scheme we have been able to confirm our commitment to our Green Project.

Following an advert inviting tenders we have selected an organisation to install panels across our entire covered shooting area. This will incorporate a display area for members to see what electric is being used and how much we generate. As part of the project we will also replace all non LED lighting in the buildings.

We are also working with the adjacent nursery to transfer rain water from our buildings, carpark and area in-front of the covered shooting area into their water storage facility.

Solar Panels will cover entire covered shooting area (green roof).

Laser Tag Report

We had 24 archers taking part in our 3rd Laser-Tag event. Vanessa won games 1 & 2 before Kieran M won the final match.

Another great team builder!

Junior Only and their Parents Warwick

After shooting a Warwick round for qualifying, the archers entered three rounds of Head to Heads. They were each given a handicap based on their qualification score to even up the field and we split the competition into family and individual categories. Lily W beat Sam B in a tense 1 arrow shoot off to claim the individual crown while Rob & Isaac defeated Ged & Laura in the team event.

Astronomy Club

We now have a local Astronomy Club meeting at the ground on a regular basis with a number of our members taking part.

Field Course

Lots going on including the development of a new shot onto the island. Most of the benches have been installed. We are looking to replace a number of the bosses over the next few months, ready for the winter league. Volunteers are helping maintain the course in this peak growing period.

We continue to book out the courses to visiting clubs and individual archers.
