Twenty-nine of the top young archers in the UK are now in Italy preparing for the second leg of the European Youth Cup and hope to build on their success back in May when returning with one gold, three silvers and two bronze from Klagenfurt in Austria. James was the only archer to return with an individual medal and both James and Lucy also won team medals!
Lets hope they all get to shoot well and contribute to another great week for GB! As members of the Deer Park Team at the British Junior Championships 2 weeks ago they all performed well as did many of our Juniors.
Report on the British Junior Championships Weekend at Lilleshall
Saturday’s rounds were the Junior World Archery 1440 Star and Metrics. Deer Park Archers had 6 archers shooting in the just over 250 strong field. There were Gold medals for Lucy Mason, Rachel Lucas and James Howse. Tom Howse won silver and both Lucy (359/360 at 30m) and Rachel recorded more National Records! Both Will Gore (1242) and Molly Peters recorded massive personal bests.
The National Championships took place on the Sunday. Again great performances from all our archers with Championship Titles for Lucy, James and Rachel, who recorded another National Record!
There was also another Gold and Under 18 Compound Championship title for Phoebe Pine, who is part of the Paralympic Development Squad and means she holds both the indoor and outdoor titles in the able bodied class! Fantastic achievement Phoebe!
Mike Dalton won Silver in the Barebow under 18 category and there were well earned Bronze medals for Holly Clifford and Riley Spencer-Nice.
Gloucestershire won the Compound Team Trophy as did the Region and the teams were all Deer Park Archers! Looking strong for the Junior Inter-counties team tournament.

Molly Peters had another great day, scoring 1013 (a new PB) in the Bristol III, and getting a silver medal. Not to be outdone her father, Graham, picked up the gold for the Gents Hereford longbow section, again with a PB of 355.

A big thank you to Cheltenham Archers for another well run tournament.
