Friday
Junior Club Ten Pin Bowling Night – The boys took a bit of a hammering from the girls! Everyone enjoyed themselves and lots of new friends made.
Saturday
Began with a birthday party and a beginners course at the ground and provided a chance to see progress on the covered shooting area. Most impressive!
Covered shooting area, with 40ft containers behind, offering storage of equipment. The roof and sides will be on in the next fortnight. Meeting tomorrow to finalise electrics.
Busy session at Balcarras in the evening, last chance to prepare for the County Championships the following day.
Sunday
Well done to Edward Kain and his team for running an excellent event. The county took a leaf out of our book and hired Tenzone Bosses, makes life so much easier.
Well done to all our archers competing and congratulations to our 5 County Senior Champions, this is amazing as we did not have the likes of Lucy, James, Tom and Phoebe there as they were on various duties. A special well done to David Ponton whose recovery since major surgery has been truly inspirational. Also to John Dalton who won equaling his own County Record and to Holly Clifford winning her first senior title as a junior and to Rachel Lucas who retained her title, again a junior! Cannot leave out a mention for Lynn who landed the ladies longbow title.
At the same time we were running a Club Portsmouth Shoot at Balcarras and there were some impressive performances from Grace Chappel who beat her personal best by over 100 points, her mum also showed a huge improvement with a personal best. There were some excellent Junior Barebow Scores with Imogen Colenutt getting a personal best of 419, hotly pursued by Madeline Egan and Meg Unsworth. We are going to have an amazing Barebow Squad for the British Champs especially when you combine with the talent in our satellite clubs.
This event was followed by a very well attended improvers course for those that recently completed a beginners course.
In the afternoon we cut the grass at the ground for the first time this year, definitely not a bowling green yet, but give us time!
Inter-Schools Match
Two of our satellite clubs took part in a 3 way match with Cleve School. The standard of the teams of 12 was incredible, Balcarras squeezing out HSFG (Both our Satellite Clubs). Great preparation for the school games.
Phoebe gets good coverage in local papers
Phoebe Pine gets good coverage from GB Selction
Phoebe who was helping with coaching at our Improvers Course yesterday got some well earned coverage in local papers for her shooting achievements. Well done!
