GWAS Junior Inter-Counties
Well done to the Gloucestershire team who impressively retained their title leading from start to finish in the Championships hosted by the Bowmen of Dainsfield.
The Gloucestershire team and its supporters travelled by coach to the event thanks to the support of our County and the Winter Squad Trainings led by Steph & Dan Gill that has created a really great team spirit and some technically excellent archers!
The team which included 9 Deer Park Academy Juniors in the squad of 15 were in dominant form shooting Metrics for the first time in this event and quickly established a commanding lead!
Gloucestershire Team
This is very much a team event and it was evident from the start that Gloucestershire had strength in depth and it is even more impressive that when you look at the County Development Squad (those that aspire to get in the County Team) that we could pick a second 15 that could have also won the competition!
To give a flavour of the standard, Lucy Mason top scored in the Compound Team with 1390, Anna Langdon in the Recurve with 1271, Phoenix Udin in the Longbow with 528 and congratulations go to Rachael Lucas shooting Barebow scoring 1171 and recording 2 National Records!
Well done to Steve Mason who managed the team on the day and all those who supported the team and to the archers of the other teams who all contributed to a great day!

Endsleigh Insurance Family Day
Thank you to our new neighbours for giving us the opportunity to support their family day which was attended by over 1000 people and judging by the constant queues most of them got to try archery!
Our support team of more than 20 members were kept busy for over 4 hours and we provided both conventional and ‘Arrows’ equipment. Thank you to Endsleigh for making a generous donation to help towards our fundraising for the new ground.

Cheltenham 2-way Western Longbow Shoot
6 of our members shot in this excellent competition on the same afternoon as the Endsleigh Event. Well done to John Craigie who secured 3rd place with the most Golds and to David Ponton, shooting in his first competition and finishing 5th and demonstrating his obvious potential!

New Ground
Likely to sign the contract later this week as soon as we have confirmed public liability insurance and sorted a couple of other minor details. We will then be the proud owners of our own ground!

Annual Club Awards Evening
We have had to book a bigger venue (have done so each of the last 4 years!) so this year’s event will be at the Walls Club on the 28th November. More details to follow.
Invictus Games
Good luck to Paul Twaites one of our members competing at the Invictus Games and to Dave Sandles who is one of the 6 Archery GB coaches supporting the event!
Gloucestershire Junior Championships – 13th September
Cheltenham Archers are hosting the event with Deer Park Archers organizing it, we are up to 18 targets and the weather forecast seems fine! Will do our best to accept late entries but please try to get them in asap. This will be a celebration of archery in Gloucestershire, so get along and support it!
