To Ella Gibson for gaining no less than 4 qualification scores for the World Indoor Championships in the USA at both junior and senior level and for being ranked 1 in the National Junior Compound Rankings!
To Lucy Mason for breaking another British Record for the WA18 at the Evesham Record Status Tournament last weekend scoring 584. Also to 13 year old Chloe A’Bear scoring 561 and beating Lucy ‘s County Age Group Record!

Awards Evening Sell out!

Our Annual Awards Evening sold out (130) in record time and will take place this coming Friday. As well as the awards, being presented by our successful international Archers and compared by TV star David Ponton there are show reels capturing another successful year. A bigger venue has already been booked for 2018.

GL1 Satellite Club

The awards scheme for users of the recreation centre that participate in archery has been launched. The programme is run by our coaches and volunteers with participants booking through the recreation centre and a number are now joining the full club as their primary pathway. The biggest expansion in numbers is the fast growing Bambies Group for 5-8 year olds.

Balcarras Satellite Club

With over 70 school pupil members we have just launched a weekly challenge programme, where each week pupils will compete for a number of titles (highest score, best gold, best group etc) and receive a trophy and have their photo displayed on a new school archery notice board!

Mini – field League starting to grow!

The new fortnightly field archery league is growing event by event and despite this weekends awful weather more than 20 competed in an eighteen 3D target round. These events are open to all Archery GB members, totally cater for beginners but at the same time run as formal tournaments complete with hot drinks and cookies to finish off each event!

Winter Coaching Workshops in full swing

Following a meeting of over 20 of the Club coaches a workshop diary has been agreed and includes -Field craft barebow. Field craft recurve and compound. String making. Skills and drills. Compound equipment sessions with James Howse.

Record Status Tournaments

Following the fully booked early season Portsmouth in September, next Sunday sees another Portsmouth, this time for the County Junior Championships and it is again fully booked. We are operating a waiting list for anyone still wanting to register.
As a club we have 10 Record Status Tournaments planned during the indoor and outdoor seasons, it reflects our commitment to encouraging competition and the commitment of our volunteers to make this possible!

Tree Planting

Next weekend will see us planting more than a 1000 trees and hedging plants opposite our entrance and along the lane.

Beginners Course and L1 Coaching Course

A beginners course has just started at Birdlip being run by current L1 Coaching Candidates and supported by experienced coaches. It will complete early December with the L1 Course completing in January.
