Tournament Reports – Well done!
Last weekend saw two major indoor tournaments taking place, the GWAS Regional Championships and the World Record Status FITA 18 at Evesham and we were well represented at both in numbers competing and in performances!
A junior team of Molly Peters, Alex Parker, Lara Healy and Riley Spencer-Nice won the team trophy for the second year on the trot at the Regionals and Tom & James Howse won the team Senior Compound Trophy at Evesham. Our Senior team of at the Regionals of Caroline A’Bear, Andy Clifford, Rosemary McKay and Ella Gibson came third.
There were also many individual successes at the Regional Championships with titles for Riley Spencer-Nice, Molly Peters, Josh Uzzel, Chloe A’Bear, Grace Chappell, Ella Gibson and there was a bronze for John Craigie.
Meanwhile at Evesham, James Howse won the junior gents compound by some distance, brother Tom won silver in the Gents Compound, shooting that discipline for the first time! Lucy Mason finished 3rd in the Ladies compound despite still being on crutches.
Gloucestershire Media Awards
Another great evening in the Gold Cup Suite at Cheltenham Race Course, attended by 20 of our members and supporters with 3 finalists. This is an amazing achievement in itself, since 2010 we have had 20 finalists, with 7 of those being winners! However on this occasion we did not add to the tally of wins.
Our congratulations go to the Gloucester Hartpury Junior Women’s Rowing Squad who won the Junior Club of the Year and to Cheltenham Rugby Club who won the Community Club of the Year. In both cases hugely bigger operations than us and very impressive set ups!
We are still trying to understand how Lucy Mason was not awarded the Young Sports Performer of the Year as it was so deserved!
Well done and thank you to the organisers for another great evening and hope to see them again next year.

Sport England Audits
We have been rather busy responding to 2 Sport England Audits of our Inspired Facilities Project initiated by Sport England having been requested by the government’s Cabinet Office to evaluate a number of funding programmes. We were subject to both a review of all the project management processes and a site visit to review project specifications, contractor management, financial management and record keeping.
We await any feedback but believe we have successfully demonstrated a very well managed project.
This Girl Can – Any of our female members interested?
Do you remember an ad campaign a while ago showing girls and women of all ages, shapes and sizes doing physical activities and sports?
Click here to see a video of the ad: https://vimeo.com/116682944
The company who made it (called Somesuch) are now shooting another film and are looking for girls and women to take part.
They say:
We aren’t looking for any professional sports people – just those who do it for fun and fitness. We would love for the campaign to include women who love sport and exercise and have a disability.
