Our Annual New Year’s Target Day kicked off what is going to be a very busy schedule of more than 20 competitions planned during 2020. A healthy mixture of record status, club target days, field league and mock head to heads, all open to guests as well as club members!
This event was a mixed Portsmouth and WA18, fully booked online and managed to squeeze in an extra target. Only one County Record, well done to Kevin Macey shooting a WA18 using longbow, recording 402 beating the 386 held by our own David Ponton. John Dalton Barebow scored 546 just 3 points off his own County Record.
Our array of Compound World & European medal and record holders competing was also great to see, Ella recording 586, needless to say the best score of the day!
These events are fantastic for introducing new competitors to tournaments and also engaging other clubs, this event had representatives from 3 clubs, we hope we can encourage more.
Our next competition is a field league event on Saturday. This is followed by our Worshipful Company of Fletchers Sponsored Record Status Inclusion Shoot on the 2nd February and then the following weekend sees our inaugural ‘Deer Park does Vegas’ Competition.
Still on the competition theme, one of our Laser Tag Competitions takes place on the 9th January and our Short Mat Bowls Round Robin Matches continue each Thursday evening.
Junior only fun sessions recommence this Friday.
More beginners and Improvers programmes start next week.
County Psychology Workshop
Thank you to Erin Prior for running a very well attended workshop at our Training Centre in December. Thank you to Gloucestershire Archery Society for making a major financial contribution to coach and archer development. It is great to appreciate all the volunteer coaches and archers that give so much to our sport.
If you visit our website you will see that it is changing in format, hopefully a lot more user friendly and a big questions and answers section giving access to a lot more information.
