Lucy Mason starred for Deer Park on another good day at the British Championships taking place at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre at Stoneleigh. Over the 2 days we provided more competitors than any other club, fielding a mixture of very competitive archers and those gaining essential experience for future events.
Lucy Mason, James Howse and Phoebe Pine entered the Back to Back Competition which featured many of the top senior archers from a number of countries, split into round robin groups of 6. James and Lucy were the only two juniors to progress to the next rounds again in league format. Progressing that far in such company was a great achievement and Lucy went one better, progressing into the last 6, where she convincingly eliminated the Swedish Archer seeded 5 and finishing in 4th place and winning some prize money! Lucy had even beaten the eventual winner in the group stages!
All our juniors competing in the Junior Championships did us proud, all gained valuable experience and most importantly enjoyed the day.
Holly Clifford had also been selected to represent England in the Home Nations Cup won individual silver and likewise in the International where England were beaten by Scotland by just a single point in 2700!
Rachel Lucas made it 2 wins in successive weekends but she was pushed all the way by Ella Gibson, giving us a one two in that event.
Riley Spencer-Nice won bronze in his category and we had a good number of 4th places, just outside the medals, with some personal best scores in a challenging environment.
Today we have a good number of senior and junior archers competing and we will report those results as soon as we have them. Progress can be followed live by using the link on the Archery GB website. Practice sessions will also be running as usual at Balcarras School this morning.
