Medal Rush at the British Junior Championships!

We sent a strong team of 24 to the British Junior and Back to Back Tournament at the Ricoh Arena and all of them performed well in a cauldron of noise and activity.

Firstly thanks must go to the National Junior Committee and all those that helped to put on what is now the 3rd biggest event of its kind in the world!

Like most big events it is the ones that win medals that get the highlights but many of those that did not win medals performed as well and the experience gained for the future will be invaluable.

The final medal haul was 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze and to add to that great performances from James Howse and Lucy Mason also shooting in the senior Back to Back Competition!

Silver medals for Connie Healey, Chloe A’Bear, Holly Clifford and Fin Cummins. Bronze medals for Hamish Ponton and Paige Tucker!

The best performance of the day was reserved for James Howse (age 15) who elected to shoot in the Back to Back Senior Competition with the top 30 Compounds split into 5 groups of 6. James qualified for the final 12 places in second place winning 4 and losing just 1 match!

James then acquitted himself way beyond expectation winning 2 of his 5 matches and losing 2 other matches by just a single point. James’s 5th match was against Compound legend Chris White and it went right to the final end with James shooting a 29 and Chris White a perfect 30 to win by just one point!
