September/October is an important time of the year, Archery GB renewals, Sport England, Community Sports Partnership (Satellite Clubs) and other grant funders require project updates against agreed targets. This data is also essential in monitoring the performance of the club and defining realistic objectives for the future.
Sport England Monitors
In the first six months, despite periods of very challenging weather we have already achieved 65% (5754 visits to date) of our footfall annual target for the Inspired Facilities Grant, so we are very confident of achieving our 12 months target ! We may even achieve our year 3 target in year 1, which would be great!
For our Small Awards Grant we are monitored on new shooters using the ground and our 12 months target is 515, after just 6 months we are already up to 994.
Let us record that the targets set are challenging, not at all conservative and we have even surprised ourselves!
Active Gloucestershire Satellite Club Monitors
We have 3 Satellite Clubs, the average attendance at each of the clubs is GL1 19, HSFG 22 and Balcarras is 37 with total membership numbers well in excess of 100.
We have had a good return from those clubs with a good number and their parents, joining the full club! Balcarras winning the County School Games (HSFG won it last year) and HSFG finishing 3rd this year.
Archery GB Membership
The annual club/governing body renewals take place in line with the Archery GB defined date of October 1st. We are proud to say that our club membership is 33% higher than in any other previous year at this time and our non-renewed percentage has dropped from 32% last year to 18% this year (national average is 30%).

Club target shoot run as a formal competition, including registration, assembly and field captains/judges. Retaining more members?
Drawing any specific conclusions from these figures is not that easy as there are so many factors, however our ever improving facilities (Indoor and Outdoor) must have a lot to do with it!
After-School, lunch-time and in-curriculum activities
Where possible the club’s volunteers support Xperience Archery in these sessions, the last 12 months has seen another massive rise in Primary Schools wanting to engage with our sport. As this has been the case for some time, the Secondary School Clubs have also seen a huge increase in membership with the new intake of year 7’s having done archery in their primary schools.
Kingshill School Sports Hall additional Friday evening venue has started.
A new large venue, on-site storage and lots of members attending, what more can we say. The first evening saw 26 members present, 21 shooting on an evening when our beginners and improvers courses were also running at Birdlip and we had 65 turn up earlier that evening at our Balcarras Satellite Club! Exciting times.
Level 1 Coaching Courses
The first of this winters courses began last weekend, a big thank you to Kath Fitzpatrick for delivering it such an engaging way.
September ends the formal outdoor programme at Deer Park
Some spectacular sunsets, the last of our record status competitions and the ramping up of our indoor venues has seen a reasonably smooth transition to our indoor season.
One of our aims when refurbishing all our layered foam bosses over the winter is to move to an all wheeled range, we have a sponsor to help with the costs.
