On Sunday 15th September we officially opened our wonderful facility and also took the opportunity to open our new terracing, Boule Courts and Adapted Kit Play Area.
On behalf of our Chairman Steve Howse, who was unavailable due to family commitments, our Finance Director Kate Lawton, following the welcoming of our VIP’s and guests, gave an excellent overview of our journey so far and our plans for the future.
This was followed by a formal cutting of the ribbon by Counsellor Robert Vines and 2 of our juniors who were recognised at last year’s Annual Awards for their contribution to our club and our sport. Kieran Macey was Junior Club Person of the year and Chloe A’Bear was Victrix Ludorum winner.
We were pleased to host representatives from many of the Trusts and Companies that have helped us to achieve so much and to welcome back some of those that helped with the formation of the club more than 20 years ago.
In addition to the opportunity to have a go, try the Boule, try the adapted kit fun area, watch field, Clout and target archery demonstrations there was also the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments, to visit our ‘Men in Sheds’ Workshop and see a photo exhibition of our journey so far.
Kate was keen to highlight our intention to continue to be a leader in our sport and to improve the experience we are able to offer our members and our community.
The following pictures hopefully capture some of the day and of our facilities.
A big thank you to Archery GB!
Our 2019 Gloucestershire Primary School Games winning team, Saperton, were invited to visit Lilleshall and get to shoot alongside the Worshipful Company of Fletchers Disability Championships.
They also got to visit the Performance Unit and were hosted by Naomi Folkard and Coach Dan Gill from Xperience Archery.
Sapperton won the title beating more than 120 Primary schools in the process, I know this gesture was greatly appreciated!
GWAS Junior Inter-Counties Championships
Last Saturday we are pleased to announce that despite fielding the least experienced team for many years, Gloucestershire still managed to retain the overall title, also winning the Recurve, Compound and Barebow Titles! Well done to all those involved!
