We are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Archery GB ‘Club of the Year’ for the second time. The award recognises another outstanding year in the development of the club and its contribution to the sport.
Arran Coggan, National Lead for Club Development, visited the club to make the award which was received by Christine Anderton who is the club’s CASC Officer and has been recently appointed as a Director for DPAL.
We are totally committed to the aims of the Ontarget Club Development Programme, holding all 3 Specialisms of ‘Young People, Performance and Community’ and are grateful for all the help and advice provided to the club by the Archery GB Development team over many years.

Our archers did us proud!
Compounders James Howse & Lucy Mason together with Tom Howse shooting recurve competed in a 2 day selection shoot over the weekend with their sights firmly set on securing places to represent GB in the European Youth Championships next month in Bucharest, Romania. They all did brilliantly and we now wait to see if they have been selected.
And they continue to do so!
Immediately following that event James & Lucy flew out to Antalya, Turkey to represent the Senior Team in the Hyundai World Cup event, competing in the qualification round on the Tuesday in soaring temperatures. James finished 46th with 697, a personal best and a new British Junior Record! Lucy also shot well and finished in 58th. These are great achievements remembering that both are juniors shooting in a senior event.
Lucy will shoot against Amelie Sancenot from France in the first elimination round. James will shoot against Australian Jonathon Milne in his first round.
Ontarget Club Competition – Date Fixed
Our home match against a very strong Bowmen of Minchinhampton has been arranged for Thursday 28th June. Our team of 4 archers, 2 compounds and 2 recurves will see debuts for 3 of the team and include 2 juniors! Archers who have gained international recognition are not eligible. We are also hoping that we can also arrange a shadow ‘longbow’ match at the same time.
