Last Sunday saw us deliver another successful record stays tournament with our single detail ‘last chance ‘ 1440 & Metrics. We had lots of excellent feedback and made many new friends, we used our music license for the first time, and learnt a lot as this was our first time running this format. Excellent support once again from our judges and Adrian Gifkins was the Judge in Charge with Richard Jones supporting.
The catering team were outstanding, keeping standards high and offering a fantastic range of foods, the weather was challenging as we have not shot recently on a warm, sunny almost still day! Also a big thank you to Steve Mason, our tournament organiser.
There were some excellent scores with Simon Faulkner breaking 1300 for his first time, Caroline A’Bear recording over 1100 for the first time, Chloe A’Bear breaking 1350, Grace Chappell beating her PB by over 80 points. Rosie Preece getting her 6 Gold End, another County Record shooting above his age group for Riley Spencer-Nice and another strong performance from Molly Peters.
Alzheimers Walk
On the previous day Steph had organised a walk to raise some funds for the Alzheimers Society, the cause had been selected as so many of our members have been affected by this terrible disease.
We had some quality social time, lots of laughs and finished off with a game of boule before the evening practice session began. Well done to all those that took part and donated over £100’s
Our first World Record Status Tournament Announced!
We were informed last week that our application for our Annual Inclusion FITA18 Tournament planned for Sunday 5th February has been granted. This shoot which also incorporates the British Wheel Chair Championships gives priority and recognition to all those with disabilities but with such a fantastic venue hopefully there will be so places for everyone!
This is yet another step forward for the club and builds on the considerable effort the club, Archery GB, The Worshipful Company of Fletchers and our Community Sports Partnership (Active Gloucestershire) have invested over the past few years. Hopefully all our successes at the Rio Paralympics will inspire many more entries.
Winter ‘Open Community ‘ sessions – will be Indoors!
Following our success this summer we are going to run some sessions at our indoor venues this winter, a page will be added to the website for interested parties to register with the site and be sent information about events. There will be an online booking system. We will also use these sessions to give many of the individuals on the Level 1 Coaching Course some real experience!
