Riley Spencer-Nice has been a member of Deer Park Archers since he was allowed to shoot a bow aged 7, from that point he has loved the sport!
He attended Archery GB Development National Programme aged 9 – completing expectations set for him, arrows, goals commitments.
Aged 10 he was selected to join the National AGB Academy programme at which point he changed to shoot Recurve with a smooth transition and with the commitment he shows achieving successful results.
Riley has successfully competed from the start of the now well known Archery GB Youth Festival winning as an individual archer and within mixed and male teams.
Last year selection for the National Academy meant the cohort was reduced to only 24 and only 12 boys would be selected.
Riley achieved this – arrows counts and expectations of the archers are high as well as managing demanding school timetables and homework.
In addition to club and support from our coaches, he attends a monthly training camp – long hours of shooting, core and strength programmes as well as the psychological element to athlete performance is addressed.
Riley has been shooting above his age group throughout his career and continues to challenge himself – gaining selections scores at higher distances.
Riley has now been selected to attend and represent AGB Academy at international training with a selection of only 12 archers representing GB – as well as being one of the younger archers – in Dijon France from the 9th-13th April 2018. Which is a huge honour and significant step in his sporting career and ambitions.
Riley has also been selected for a SportsAid Award – which will enable him to pursue his ambitions.
Riley is a resilient, calm and committed competitor – but his supportive and friendly nature on the archery field are the strengths that make him a model Deer Park Archer -Positive attitude Positive Performance to the core !!!!!
Well done Riley!
