Shooting to Restart!

We are pleased to announce that following last Wednesdays announcement by Archery GB, that conditional on ensuring the activity meets all the conditions defined by the Government and Governing Body, we are able to recommence shooting from Monday 18th May.

Can we put on record our thanks to Archery GB for the excellent support they have provided and to our own volunteer workforce for getting everything in place to allow us to meet all the requirements and ensure our members can shoot safely.

We can accommodate 18 five meter wide lanes with 27 wheeled bosses.

We recognise owning our own facilities puts us in a privileged position so as soon as we are confident our process works and we can accommodate all the needs of our members safely, we will offer opportunities for neighbouring clubs, who may not be able to shoot, to block book our range.

We are also supporting a Shielding Programme which allows individuals and family groups to book sole access to our ground for an hour in a safe environment. We are committed to continuing to support this programme.

In line with Archery GB guidelines we have implemented an online booking system:

General information about our rules can be seen by clicking on the ‘View Details’ link and then the practice session rules.

Members access the booking process via a passcode, where more details are provided and a lane allocated.

Thanks to our Volunteer Workforce we are also in a position to implement similar processes to relaunch our field course activities, again we will trial our refurbished course and booking system prior to opening the course to other clubs.

In the past few months we have invested a lot of volunteer time to continue the development of our field course, it is starting to look amazing!

During this period, we have had to cancel so many World and UK Record Status events, lost countless practice sessions and community activities but what is clear we have not lost our appetite to get back shooting!

Stage 1 of our fully accessible, all year, outdoor range is to be completed!

A 50m by 5m extension to the Covered Shooting area hard surface which will also provide additional drainage and be a vital link to our ‘mesh’ project will be installed as soon as we can safely programme in the work.

We are grateful to our major sponsors, Elliott’s Cheltenham Ltd without whom completion of this stage of our project would not have been possible and for the support provided by the Worshipful Company of Fletchers!

We have a lot of work in-front of us if we are to achieve our aim of having a full range that is accessible all year. We see this as critical to our future, as indoor shooting is likely to be much more difficult to accommodate and afford with current restrictions or anything even close to those currently in operation. The completion of Stages 2 & 3 of our ‘Mesh’ Project will not only help our own members but also provide opportunities for other clubs to shoot.
