Club Mini- Field League
Week 4 of the league saw a surprisingly excellent attendance despite less than ideal weather, lots of juniors and parents at the nationals and Christmas shopping.
A slightly more challenging round, unmarked WA Field Round, saw 2 archers tied for top place in Division 1, Division 2’s leader being narrowly beaten but remaining top and a new leader in Division 3 but with a fast improving pack chasing.
Week 5 in 2 week’s time will be a mixed 2D Animal Round. Entries via the website are open to all Archery GB members.
Peter Pawley receives his ‘Jos Benfield’ Clubman of the Year Award.
Following the Club Annual Awards evening last week when Peter was unfortunately not available, Lynn Benfield presented him the award on Wednesday evening at a packed practice session at GL1.
2018 ‘Overall Champion of the Club’ Award launched.
The Annual Awards also saw the launch of one of our new initiatives to recognise voluntary support to the club and value it on a parallel with shooting achievements at all levels. We are thankful for the sponsorship support we have been provided by Wales Archery.
This programme reinforces one of our moto’s, ‘Not just what the club can do for you but what you can do for the club!’ This approach continues to encourage a fantastic team of volunteers and bring us great success. We hope other clubs will copy the idea!
Another 1000+ trees planted !
Great work by our volunteers last weekend planting, this time to support our neighbours complying with planning conditions. Not an easy terrain but we are making great progress.
Workshops Programme running flat out!
2 weeks ago we launched an ongoing programme of workshops ranging from compound bow set up and tuning, string making, field craft, skills and drills to mention just a few. All have been well attended!
