CONGRATULATIONS to Ella winning the Women’s Compound Individual WORLD Field Archery Championships in USA!

National County Team Championships – Report
On the 26-27 September, Gloucestershire made its 4th appearance at the National County Team Championships at Lilleshall. Our team took on 19 other counties and the RAF in a field of over 380 archers.

Congratulations to our County Team Gloucestershire who once again under the leadership of Elaina Curran had great success over the weekend. There were Championship successes in both longbow and compound with Judy, Rachel, Lilly, both Grace’s, Kevin and Sean all winning team Golds and playing prominent roles!
Ethan represented GB in the European Run Archery Championships in Poland
Ethan Hendry probably the youngest competitor finished 8th in the 4K and 11th in the sprint race. Well done, a great experience gained. The team was managed by our own Ian Green!

Indoor tournaments update
We completed our successful British Record Status Early Portsmouth 2 weeks ago and running our 2026 World Record Status WA18, this coming Sunday.
Field Course update
Last weekend we organised the 3D Field event with over 100 archers competing which also incorporated the County Championships. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who prepared the course and to those that ensured the event ran smoothly on the day!

In 2 weeks we will be launching our Annual Winter Field League. Week 1 is already fully booked with only a few places left on all the other remaining events!
Coach Development update
With our coach development programme in full swing we are ensuring our 16 candidate Session Coaches achieve the required hours of coaching practice and providing plenty of opportunities to practice their new skills! As well as currently running Beginners Courses we have just organised 4 well attended have-a-goes. These are in addition to parent group ‘guinea pig’ and junior only sessions!
Environmental Stewardship
Lots of routine support for all our projects particularly with our recently added ‘Stream/water’ project where our minnows population continues to grow, with more sections of our brook being cleared! Our new beehives continue to prosper.
We have also completed a plan to create new hedging on the far side of our field course, initially installing stock fencing (with gaps for deer access etc) and hedge planting.

We are working with our new neighbours Silver Tree Services and they will help find suitable homes for our bird, bat and butterfly houses and insect hotels!
Community decarbonisation project – Centre for Sustainable Energy
As the installation of our Solar Panels was supported by UKSPF and REPF funding we are contributing to the evaluation of community building decarbonisation projects across Tewkesbury Borough Council.

They are looking to assess energy and carbon savings alongside wider community benefits, and are looking to capture learnings that can inform future activity. The work will result in an impact report, practical ‘how‑to’ guidance and a suite of case studies to support and inspire further community decarbonisation.
We are hoping to host a resulting conference in the new year.
Our recently appointed Utilities & Energy Officer has been looking in more detail at how we more effectively import and export our energy usage .
Men-in-Sheds news
When we do have a few moments, we are currently repairing a very nice dolls house and will ask social services to find a deserving home for it. Preparation and maintenance of our field courses is taking up a massive amount of time and resources at the moment.

Countdown to our 30 year anniversary awards evening is on!
We will be celebrating 30 years of challenges and achievements on the 27th November, it should be a great evening but as they say; ‘We did not come this far to only come this far! Hopefully the next 30 years will be just as rewarding!
