Cheltenham Mixed Hereford
Well done to Cheltenham Archers for organizing an excellent event and the weather was very kind to them and all the competitors! Clean sweep for our longbows with John Craigie (523) winning the Gents and Lynn Benfield (350) winning the Ladies!
Rachel Lucas won the Barebow shooting above her age group and Ann Langdon finished 2nd in her recurve age group. There was also a huge PB for Martin Tucker in the Gents Recurve with a score of 880. Imagine what he will do with his new bow!
Martin wins the ‘Hoyt setup’ prize in the Wales Archery 50 years Celebration Draw!
Martin Tucker had some great news as the lucky recipient of a top of the range Hoyt setup to celebrate Wales Archery’s 50th Anniversary! He will be collecting his new kit later this month.
Congratulations to Tom & Phoebe!
Tom Howse has been selected to progress to the Archery GB Talent Confirmation Programme! This recognizes all his hard work and success over the last 12 months and will give him further technical and financial support to continue his journey to the top!
The good news does not stop there, Phoebe Pine is one of only 2 Para Archers to be awarded TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) Funding, which again will help Phoebe continue her amazing development!
Ground Development Update
Funding has been cleared for the purchase of a 40ft container to be placed in a temporary position and it will be in position next week! Funding has also been cleared for the erection of stock fencing and for the production of detailed drawings for the club house and covered shooting area to support our funding applications. We are currently looking at a hedge planting programme to provide longer term shelter and privacy, at the same time hoping to improve the supply of flowers etc for the adjacent ‘Bee’ Farm!
Archery GB Membership Round
A special thanks to Mary (Club Secretary) for completing the renewals process, with 3 full beginners courses and a number of private beginners courses running there will be a further boost to membership later in the year.
With this in mind the club is currently canvassing its members on introducing a ‘standing order’ programme which will allow the club to offer savings to its members and simplify the current arrangements. It is recognized that the SO system will not be suitable for everyone so current arrangements will also be available.
The Club is also conducting a Club Members Survey for Archery GB of all those 16 and over.
The Club is at an advanced stage working with Active Gloucestershire (CSP) to confirm the viability of setting up 3 Satellite Clubs, before the end of the year and they will be located in Gloucester and Cheltenham. Watch this space for further announcements!
School Games Award for Active Gloucestershire!
Active Gloucestershire have been recognized with a very well deserved national award for the School Games Programme and our partnership with them during the Level 2 & 3 Archery Finals is one of the highlights of the year during our work in the community programme!
Kirsty Dunleavy pictured left will be our Guest of Honour at our Awards Evening.
Club Winter Target Day Programme
Starts Sunday 12th October with a Portsmouth Round at Balcarras. Part of our programme to promote competition!
