What is happening over Christmas?

Christmas Holidays Practice Arrangements

Every day (including Christmas Day), details are on the website. If you loan equipment, as it is all at Balcarras, you do not need to tell us you are coming, just turn up.

22nd December  Christmas Practice Session

Great attendance, mulled wine and mince pies were excellent. Lots of fun competitions with prizes. Well done to Zoe, shooting for the first time at 20yds and winning 3 best gold ends on the trot! Austin won the ‘Positive Evens/Negative Odds’ Competition. Thank you to every one that helped.

23rd December – Fun Head to Head Competition

Another excellent turn out, a group of archers took part in a Head to Head Round Robin.

Well done to James Lawton, who finished with a perfect win record, Austin who lost just one match and Martin for finishing third.

Social Bowls event at GL1 – 21st December

Excellent morning, everyone enjoyed it and we certainly improved with each end.

Well done to John Craigie, Steph, Roger & Brian for winning it and also to Lynn, Doris, Vanessa & Dan for finishing Runners-up.  We are going to book another session, we were well looked after, free court, shoes & use of bowls, great time!

Winning Team, double celebration for Brian (Dan’s Dad) as he gained his Level 1 Coaching Qualification last week!

July National Salvers

At last Archery GB have delivered the Salvers for the Postal competition shot back in July! As a club we encourage as many juniors as possible to enter these competitions but the ‘turn round’ of over 4 months is less than impressive. Several of the juniors that won trophies could not even remember what they were for! Let’s hope the November Challenge results will be a little quicker. Anyway, well done to Ciaran, Austin & Lucy for each finishing 1st and Will and Holly for finishing 3rd.

National Field Course League – First Pictures.

Still waiting for more photos, however some of the ones we already have are really good. Please if you want to give field archery a go, then contact Rosemarie.

Martin did well on a difficult course.

Nutrition & Hydration Workshop – 27th January 2013

The date is confirmed and will take place at Balcarras between 9 & 10:30am. We have engaged an external provider to run the workshop. All members, parents, coaches etc are invited to attend. Please let Steph know sjcrang@aol.com

Trophy Engraving Machine

The club engraver will be available at every practice session (Balcarras) over the next 2 weeks, Steve will be at hand to give you the necessary training to use the machine to save yourself paying for it!

Thank you for the Awards at the 22nd December Practice evening.

A really nice surprise on the evening, Dan was presented with the engraved ‘Jos Benfield’ trophy for Clubman of the year, Steph for her award as Deer Park Coach of the Year and Roger for the Deer Park ‘Hero’ award. Steve Mason making the presentations highlighted that in such a great club, that these awards were a lot more important than any of the external awards!

Nice touch guys, a big thank you from the 3 of us.

Welcome Back Ed

Welcome back to Ed Paddy and family, they popped in last Saturday evening, it was great to see them and hopefully we will see Ed back shooting  (and coaching) in the near future.

Wishing everyone a great Christmas & looking forward to a great 2013!
