Skills & Drills – So important to improve your shooting.

The second workshop on Skills & Drills will take place between 5:15 & 6:15pm at Balcarras before the usual Club Practice Session on the Saturday evening. All members, whatever level of experience/ability, juniors/seniors that shoot recurve, Barebow & longbow are welcome. Whist this is part 2 of the series, no problems if you did not attend session 1. These workshops will be key to helping you develop your skills further, so make the effort!

Level 2 Coaching Course

Any of our Level 1 Coaches interested in taking Level 2 should talk to Steph asap please.

Field Course

We are preparing to host our second Field Course competition in the National Field League on Sunday 17th February (Morning).  An excellent course, suitable for seniors and juniors of all bow types. If you would like to enter contact Rosemarie Mckay at rosemarie.mckay@btinternet.com  I will certainly be having a go!

Setting up the course – Volunteers wanted on the previous day (16th) at Bubbs Hill from 10:30am. Again please let Rosemarie know if you can help.

All the club field course dates (and there are lots of them) will be on the website by the end of this weekend.

February Junior Birthdays

With all the juniors we have only one has a birthday in February. Happy Birthday Callum!

CLUB SOCIAL FAMILY EVENT AND FUNDRAISING

Easter Family Shoot

Friday 29 March 2013 – Good Friday

The annual Easter Family Shoot will take place – hopefully outdoors at Bubbs Hill.

There will be Easter eggs for everyone and refreshments (hot and cold drinks), with various competitions (for all levels and age of archer) to win yet more Easter eggs, so please put the date in your diaries.

If the weather turns against us (and it has been known), then we will run the event at the

Balcarras School Sports Hall (indoors).  Watch the club website and club Newsletter for more information on the format of the day itself.

Fundraising – Swimarathon 2013

Saturday 23 March 2013  – Cheltenham College

We have previously entered teams for the Swimarathon which is organised by the Cleeve Hill 41 Club (previously Cleeve Hill Round Table) and raised money for the Club as well as supporting local charities.  This year the club will retain 80% of all sponsorship monies raised.

The event clashes with the County Junior squad training session so we need to look to club members who are not involved with the County squad – Juniors and Seniors – to enter a team or teams.  Teams need to see how many lengths (Relay) they can complete in a 45 minute session (we are allocated a time slot during the day).  Entries need to be in by 1 March 2013 so we do not have a great deal of time to get this sorted.  Is anyone interested in participating – it is great fun and you will be helping others and the club raise necessary funds.  Please contact Mel Sutherland on 01242 210562 or melanies_theoaks@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to enter.  Teams can consist of a maximum of

10 members and sponsorship forms will be made available once the team or teams have been confirmed.

For those of you who cannot swim or are not available on the day, you can help by sponsoring the teams….

Preparation for the County Indoor Championships & Club Double Bray 1

The Balcarras practice sessions on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd March (Morning only as Junior Squad in the afternoon) will be given over to running a competition format Portsmouth, score boards, whistle system, timed ends etc. More details closer to the date but preference will be given to those shooting a practice round.

Club Double Bray 1 – Sunday 24th March at Balcarras – Status Report

Just 15 places left and then we will be full! If you have not entered this is a final reminder to do so or you will not get a place.

Practice Sessions – A bonus Session and a reminder!

Half term next week so no Kingshill session.

Good news is that anyone with their own equipment can shoot at 15 yds at GL1 from 4pm to 5:15pm before a beginners course we are running at the Recreation Centre. You need to let Steph know before the day so we can take extra bosses along. Why not combine your visit with a swim?
