Our GB Compound Junior Ladies Team winning a Bronze Medal in the World Youth Championships in Madrid this week with Ella, Lucy and Jessica securing the medal with a convincing win over Italy. This followed a single point defeat to Russia in the semi-final who in turn lost out to the USA in the Gold Medal Match.
On Saturday many club volunteers put in another ‘World Class’ Performance with an amazing display of skill, determination and team work! The club would like to formally recognise the special effort from so many to complete a long list and wide range of jobs! Our home is starting to look a different class!
Talking about home, we would like to welcome Maddy a rescue hedgehog from the local rescue centre, hopefully the first of many. Some of our volunteers made up a fabulous hog box to ensure a good start, Maddy joins our large badger set, deer and 6 species of bats in our ever improving environment!
Saturday afternoon saw our ‘I AM TEAM GB’ Open Community Shoot, another great turn out and there was even a ‘Robin Hood’ from one of our guests, in the 10 ring and on his own arrow!
Only disappointment for him was that it was the best gold round, his partner was closer!
Bank Holiday Monday morning saw another of our open club target days, this time mainly National Rounds on offer with additional 50/70m rounds as an option. 14 targets and more county records!
This coming Sunday will see both our Recurve/Compound and our Longbow/barebow teams travel to Lilleshall for the Ontarget Finals.
Still difficult to grasp that we are approaching the start of the indoor season! This winter in addition to our own indoor shooting area we will use Balcarras School Sports Centre on Saturdays and Sundays, GL1 on Wednesdays and Kingshill on Fridays.
Managed shooting will also continue outdoors and of course our Field Course Programme runs throughout the winter.
There is a full programme of club and record status tournaments, beginners and Improvers programmes and many workshops to look forward to. Not to forget our indoor 252 Programme, social (not forgetting our Short Mat Bowls Winter League) and team building activities that will make the indoor season just as enjoyable as the outdoor one!
Want to be part of a sport and recreation club that does more than just shoot arrows, then why not enroll on one of our beginners courses?
