Great day at the 2024 Sport and Recreation Alliance Awards!

25 fantastic finalists across 8 categories at the  flagship awards programme recognises and celebrates the outstanding work of clubs, organisations and individuals that are so crucial to grassroots sport and recreation in this country.

This year’s winners were announced at a ceremony at Headingley Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire County Cricket Club – in the only suite in the world to overlook two international stadia.

We were proud to accept the Going Green Award and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our members on their support in all our efforts to become sustainable!

Steve Howse receiving the award from HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh

This is our 3rd success with the Sport and Recreation Alliance winning the Community Sports Club of the Year back in 2011 held in St. Paul’s London.

and the Volunteer Management Award in 2013 held in St James Palace.

All important milestones on our continued journey to become sustainable and provide the best experience we can for our members and our sport!

This recognition was also perfect timing as this was Steve Howse’s,  our Chairman for the last 12  years, final day in office and reflects all that he has achieved!

We are hoping to support our Governing Body to encourage and support all Archery Clubs to be as Green as they can be!

Deer Park Archers ‘Club for All’ workshop

Almost 30 club coaches and field captains attended our workshop last week focusing on inclusivity and helping us to ensure we support all our members to participate and enjoy our sport. This was a great success!

This week Graham Peter’s ran a coaching workshop feeding back his experience of attending a World Archery Level 3 course in Switzerland.

County Senior Indoor Championships and Welsh and Western Counties Team Tournament at Hartpury University.

First time use of a fantastic venue, over 150 archers, brilliant organisation and support from our Tournament Team and volunteers, again well done to everyone!

14 individual County Titles to be won, Deer Park taking 11 of them, and also lots of 2nds/3rds! Also great outcomes on the team competitions but that will be the subject of other reports. Hopefully the County Team format will become an annual event!
