One of the objectives of our recently completed Extension Project is to create a facility that will allow us to run sustainable floodlit winter tournaments.
To trial this we decided to run an in-house Stafford Round but with a bit of a twist, ranking all participants into 5 flights (Divisions) after 3 dozen arrows and then competing on a league basis for the second 3 dozen. All the entrance fees was shared out equally across each flight with each top archer winning 2/3 of the pot and the runner-up the remaining 1/3.
To add to the event, the timing system and PDA’s were used and Peter provided a running commentary on positions and rivalries! The outcome was an excellent night for everyone involved, giving us the confidence that we can run a sustainable open to visitors programme next winter!
Our investment in the Extension Project, installation of battery storage for our solar panels, grass protector installation and the upgrading of our floodlights will prove to be a great asset next winter!

Preparing for the outdoor season
Earlier in the day a team of volunteers helped lay the foundation for the new judges pavilion and spectator area, which will be developed over the coming months.
Foundations in place
Work will begin this week on laying out the summer range which has been increased to accommodate 36 bosses. The excavation for the foundation generated a lot of good soil so we have taken the opportunity to fill up a few undulations and re-seed some of the playing surface.
Annual Glow Archery evening continues to grow in popularity!
Despite organising 3 sessions, we were still left with a waiting list! Great time had by all. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the evening.
Each session provided a range of challenges with both own kit and adapted kit!
In addition to the Clubhouse Glow Archery Sessions, there were general coaching sessions under the floodlights, a systems meeting in the Well-Being Area and the Equipment Laboratory , bow press and arrow cutters were all in use!

Ontarget Refresh
We have committed to further engage with the revised Ontarget programme and have found that whilst initially a little daunting, the structure offered and tools signposted are proving useful in our quest to improve as a club!
We are currently formulating a 3 year plan across all the specialisms and producing a communications video to further engage the membership. We will consult with ArcheryGB if we believe the final product may be worth sharing outside of the Club.
We still have some reservations about the programme but hopefully they can be resolved!
