Things are happening at Deer Park!

Great attendance at the AGM!

Thank you to all those that attended the AGM to ensure we got our revised Constitution passed and our Annual Accounts presented. Also thank you to our catering team who ensured we were all fed and watered and to the Committee for all their hard work throughout the year! Well done to those who won some of the spot ‘Easter Egg’ prizes during the shooting.

Tom picked to represent GB at the Europa Cup in Slovenia (11th – 19th May)!

Congratulations to Tom Howse for being selected to represent GB. Tom will be one of 3 Cadet Men chosen following a selection shoot last weekend when selection was made on the basis of only picking archers who are shooting competitive scores that would rank them in the top half of an international field and that can shoot competitive scores in the elimination rounds!

Liza, also part of the ‘World Class’ Programme, qualified to shoot on day 2 of the selection shoot and won 2 of her 5 H2H’s but was not selected on this occasion.

Well done & good luck to Tom

It is planned to submit the planning application asap. Thank you to all the members that responded detailing their skills that could be utilized during this ambitious project and to those offering help for the ongoing fundraising, we will all need to get involved in that!

Well done to James on breaking 2 more national records  although when I spoke to him he was totally frustrated by the fact it should have been more! So watch this space for news on further records.

James, more national records to come!

Club Field Captains Course

What a response to this important workshop with 20 volunteering for the training that takes place at sessions running this week. With such large attendances at practice sessions and the corresponding loads on the coaches it is crucial that the sessions are run as efficiently and safely as possible! This is a workshop that we should share with other clubs as it is a key part of club development and a copy of the presentation pack will appear on the website during the next week.

New Beginners/Improvers Continuum Programme is a fantastic success!

When the last 50 participants completed their beginners courses back in March they enrolled on a 6 session Improvers Programme which also included an introduction to Field Archery, allocation/introduction to a buddy and an organized evening visit to Wales Archery. On completion of the programme the individuals then joined the club and the results have been truly amazing. 90% will have purchased their own kit, most have joined the club and all of them have hit the ground running! A big thank you to Xperience Archery, who have played a key role in this and to all the club coaches and buddies that have attended the sessions. This is certainly the way forward!

Archery GB have nominated us again for the Sport & Recreation Club of the Year Award!

Following our success in becoming the Archery GB2012  ontarget Club of the Year we have now been put forward with 2 other clubs for this prestigious award for the 3rd year running! What is remarkable is that so much development has continued to take place in the Club during 2012 that this submission was not a case of regurgitating the same material but it is a completely new set of achievements which is a credit to all the members!
