Deer Park Archers are named EBM Club of the Month for February by ParalympicsGB!
We are honoured to be recognised as the February winner of ParalympicsGB’s Every Body Moves Programme. This award reflects the dedication of our members and our ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and supporting the wider adaptive‑sport community, as part of our overall diverse membership.
As a club we encourage people of all abilities to participate in what is an inclusive, fulfilling and fun sport. We are committed to supporting the growth of adaptive sport nationally through our work in inclusive tournaments, collaboration with partner clubs, and contributions to adaptive equipment development.
Gloucestershire has many excellent archery clubs all keen to promote the sport and welcome people to try a sport that they may have viewed as presenting barriers or constraints because of their individual circumstances.
If people wish to explore whether archery is a pastime that would suit them, we encourage them to look out for the ‘Have a Go’ taster sessions held by clubs near them.
We are grateful for the recognition and for the enthusiasm surrounding our sport.

Every Body Moves is ParalympicGB’s grassroots participation programme, which champions inclusion and empowers disabled people to be physically active in ways that suit them. Alongside delivering the UK’s largest inclusive activity programme, Every Body Moves also runs the prestigious Club of the Month award, recognising clubs that break down barriers to make sport and physical activity more accessible.
Deer Park Archers awarded a £7.5K Thriving Communities Grant by Gloucestershire County Council!
The Thriving Communities Grant scheme aims to invest in Gloucestershire’s communities to support local organisations and groups with projects that help adults to stay well and live independently for as long as possible. The aims include:
- Connecting people to their communities, reducing isolation and promoting innovation.
- Building relationships of trust, empowering people and communities and enabling meaningful engagement and influence.
- Helping people to increase independence, self-reliance and resilience through information and advice, advocacy and direct support.
Need to better equip our Men-in-Sheds workshop, increase the size of the team aand better train them!
This fantastic grant will support the Club’s £4K investment during the project delivery period to further develop their Men-in-Sheds Programme investing in new equipment and training, improving facilities to grow their volunteering resources, increasing community engagement and completing their new well-being area.
Club Junior Committee
Back to full capacity with 7 junior representatives age from 10 to 16 who will meet after nominated ‘Junior Only’ practice sessions. Thank you to all our young volunteers who will ensure the Management Committee remain in tune with the views of the junior membership!
Ontarget Refresh Workshop
2 of the 5 members of our monthly Ontarget Refresh Team will be attending anj ArcheryGB Ontarget Development day in Worcester this weekend. The team are due to make recommendations to the next Club Management Committee on priority club development areas that require attention. The frameworks and tools provided by ArcheryGB are proving to be valuable aids to ensure reviews are conducted in all the key areas.
Conclusion of our Winter Field League
Last Saturday saw the final round of our winter field league and the weather was incredibly kind, we picked a rare sunny day! Building on previous years we saw the highest levels of attendance throughout the season and all 4 divisions were keenly contested.

Environmental Stewardship – Project Updates
We are about to take delivery of our first Bee Hive which will be situated in the corner of our Orchard area. The recent mild weather has seen a burst of colour in our woodland, with carpets of snowdrops and bluebells and contrasting yellow patches of primroses bordering a number of our field course pathways.

We are looking to add a further project to our Stewardship list, that of ‘Water’, not sure why it was not included from the start! We have already done a lot to clean up Perrott’s Brook, not just cleaning building materials out and removing invasive species but improving access and using it as a focal point of our field course and nature walks. Not really done lot to sort out our pond area, which has become silted up and overgrown, we will seek professional advice to ensure we take the appropriate actions.
