2015 Gloucestershire Junior Championships

Big 3 Clubs dominate once again!

On a blustery but mainly dry day excellently hosted by Cheltenham Archers and superbly organised by Deer Park Archers the day was again dominated by the big 3 clubs with Cleve and Cheltenham winning 3 county titles each and Deer Park 12 but one of the big disappointments was the lack of entries from the other Gloucestershire Clubs.

Deer Park also won the team trophy and Parent and Child with Holly Clifford and Andy Clifford, Holly had completed her SJ National round with a perfect score and Lucy Mason who was also our Lady Paramount for the day recorded 634 on the National round breaking her own British Record!

The Cotswold Head to Head was fiercely fought and Austin Whitmarsh from Cheltenham Archers ran out a worthy winner just beating Deer Park’s Rachel Lucas in the Grand Final and Cleve’s Tallulah Kelly in 3rd .

In the Compound H2H the prize winners were all Deer Park with Phoebe Pine taking the big prize, Holly Clifford in 2nd and joint 3rd were Fin Cummins and Lucy Mason.

Deer Park also won the mixed Team Award.

From a Deer Park perspective 4 of our new archers made great debuts in their first County Competition, 3 of them shooting their first Competition!

Grace Chappell took bronze in the SJ National recurve with 480 and Polly Young was not far behind with 468. Megan Phelps matched that score in the Junior National Recurve and Ella Gibson won the Junior National Barebow with 456.

There was an excellent return to competitive shooting for Nicole Deasy scoring 428 and it is great to see her back! At the moment it is true that ‘Girls Rule’ and to recognise the number of females in the club we have planned some all female development sessions as part of our winter programme!
