Over the next 10 days we will be bringing one of our environmental projects to completion with 66 panels and a SolarEdge monitoring platform being mounted on our Covered Shooting Area allowing us to become a net exporter of electricity! This is just one of a number of initiatives that our Club is planning on the environmental front which fits well with our Green Belt location and our strong commitment to playing an active role in our community.

The panels are in! Click here to see more.
As we evolve into a sport, recreation and social club and still maintaining our focus on archery, a typical weekend illustrating the range of experiences we are offering looks something like a recent weekend in January.
Typical weekend at Deer Park
Friday morning saw some of our field course team supported by the Men-in-Sheds team constructing the field course ready for the following days Mini-Winter Field League.

That Friday evening saw 2 full sessions of our ‘Junior Only’ indoor coaching practice sessions and an outdoor range 50m practice.

On the Saturday morning we hosted our Winter Field League, which considering the prolonged wet weather, saw an excellent course layout and all the work carried out by our Men-in-Sheds team on clearing the stream, building new bridges and improving the steps has certainly paid off!

At the same time individual coaching sessions were running in the clubhouse, before a quick movement of tables and chairs ready for an evening meeting of the Astronomy Club.

At the same time our 3D targets and field course practice range was being area cleared away ready for the 50m ‘whatever the weather’ event running in the afternoon. The field course was also relayed ready for practice bookings on the Sunday.

That Saturday evening there was also a big attendance at one of our external indoor venues and that range was left up for another well booked Sunday morning indoor practice session.

Sunday morning also saw the outdoor practice range and a fully booked field course in use and the clubhouse prepared to host an Ianseo training workshop before the area was again cleared to prepare for our Short Mat Bowls Club meeting on the Sunday evening.

Finally the indoor clubhouse area was cleared ready for 2 full beginners courses running on the Monday, with a number of our juniors gaining invaluable coaching practice to support their L1 Session Coach qualifications.
Almost the same the following weekend but with a social board games evening open to all ages, family and friends following the junior only session.

Congratulations to Emily, Ella and Grace!
Congratulations to Emily Summers making her debut for GB at the forthcoming European Indoor Championships in Turkey this February. Emily has worked hard to achieve this, she is also nearing completion of her L1 Coaching qualification!
Make that 3 selected! Ella Gibson won Gold last time, so will be hoping to retain that title and Grace Chappell makes it 3 Deer Park Representatives at the Championships!
Also congratulations to Chloe A’Bear for being selected as a Junior Ambassador for ArcheryGB.

‘Meet our athletes’ page added to our website
Before the middle of February we will also be launching a new webpage entitled ‘Meet our Athletes’ which will provide short profiles of our 17 current archers who are representing GB, won Medals at British Championship events or are part of current AGB Development Programmes.

Field Course Update
PDA field course trials were a great success allowing lightening quick results to be compiled and we finally selected our new sound system to support both indoor and outdoor events.
In addition to our planned 2 day 3D event taking place on 20/21st May, following a club trial of a training field course which is fully accessible we are planning to run a couple of open field course events in the summer. The course will be ideal for those wanting to try field for the first time and will be fully accessible.
It is hoped that this will further boost the entries for the County Field Championships planned for the 7th October.
Health & Safety
Risk Assessment continues to be high on our agenda with the first item at every committee meeting focusing on a H&S topic. We are asking members to ‘Take 15 seconds’ before every activity to consider the risks and decide what steps need to be taken to mitigate any risk.

YouTube Videos
Deer Park YouTube videos continue to grow in number with 15 short videos now available!
Finally, back to the weather!
