Inclusion Shoot Report

We held our tenth annual Inclusion Shoot at Balcarras on Sunday. Archers with a disability made up more than 50% of the total number of entrants and it was a great success. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces return and many new archers taking part too. Archers travelled from as far away as the South Coast and North Wales to take part in the event, described by one archer with a disability as “the most important competition for disabled archers in the country after the National Championships!”

We are using the proceeds to deliver formal training to all our Coaches, Field Captains and Judges on Disability Awareness and also to fund Mental Health 1st Aid training.

The 2025 tournament has already started taking bookings and we are hoping to increase the number of similar annual events we organise.

Thank you to the Worshipful Company of Fletchers for their continued support. Also for providing us with a copy of their crest to add to our field course sign!

Orchard installed!

As part of our continuous support of our environment we have planted 21 fruit trees, all heritage varieties, many of which are local to Gloucestershire. The trees are a mix of apple, pear, and plum. The funding came through Gloucestershire County Council via the Forestry Commission Local Authority Treescape Fund. Technical advice was provided by Martin Hayes of Gloucestershire Orchard Trust.

We are also currently planting an additional 30 native saplings in the wetter areas around our stream.

County Indoor Championships including the Welsh & Western Inter-Counties Championships at Hartpury. Sponsored by Wales Archery

Our next competition is organising the first of it’s type at the new venue of Hartpury College! 157 archers will compete over two sessions for individual, inter-club and inter-county titles.

After the devastating fire at Tenzone destroyed all the bosses that the county were hiring, ourselves and Cheltenham Archers have agreed to loan the bosses needed to enable the event to still take place. Thank you to Elaina Curran for all her hard work on getting this event off the ground.

For such a big event, we would welcome field crew volunteers especially on the Friday evening to set up. If you can help out, even for just one session, please let Pete (Tournament Organiser) know at

New medals and trophies for the new competition!

Good Friday Social Shoot / Club Target Day

As we move outdoors, we will be hosting our traditional Easter fun shoot on Friday 29th March at our ground. We are offering National Rounds, which are 4 dozen arrows at the longer distance and 2 dozen at the shorter distance, plus a Compound metric round, to help people warm up for the Easter Bunny at Cheltenham on the Monday.

Run Archery Event – Provisional date agreed.

We are looking at putting on our first Run Archery – Sprint event in the summer. This new form of archery is a race featuring three 400m runs separated by two sets of target shooting at 18m. If you are interested in finding out more, Archery GB have put together a video explaining how it works at

Email if you think you might like to take part and we can send you details once they are finalised.

We are also planning to run an ‘Introduction to running archery’ event prior to the full event. We will provide full information via the ‘Elaina’ newsletters.
