6 teams of 12 archers representing the 5 Districts and having won through from the District Finals survived some initially challenging weather to bring this years competition to a great conclusion.
Following the qualification round which saw teams finish in the following order: Balcarras, HSG, Archway, Newent, KLB & SWR.
KLB then upset Newent in the first round and Archway eased past SWR.
Then Archway lifted their game to beat HSG and progress to the Gold Medal match against Balcarras. KLB came so close to the biggest upset of the day, losing by just 8 points to last year’s winners HSG, who took bronze.
The Gold medal match was also very close but the dominant force on the day Balcarras triumphed!
We were pleased to host the Archery GB CEO (Interim) & Independent Director Neil Armitage and the Young People Lead Kate Moss who took the time to come and see some of the great participation work we are doing in Gloucestershire and they were very impressed!
Huge credit must go to Active Gloucestershire, Xperience Archery and all our volunteers from Deer Park Archers, not just at this event but throughout what has been a very demanding programme.
Photos to follow once the dust settles, today sees the Primary School Games Finals which will see 10 teams of 9 archers who have qualified from 130 schools that have engaged with our programme!
