As we break into the indoor season there have still been plenty of opportunities to compete while the sun is still shining. Here’s a quick summary of last month’s tournaments and results of club members that competed in them.
It’s great to share experiences and encourages others members to give it a try. Share your experiences by submitting a short event report via the website for inclusion in future Monthly Result Round-ups. Hopefully this type of report will be the first of many, another example of how we are trying to move with the times!
Cheltenham Archers – Mixed Hereford
Near perfect conditions greeted the archers as they turned up bright and early for the Annual Mixed Hereford tournament hosted by Cheltenham Archers at their ground near Cheltenham Racecourse. The flags on the targets stood lifeless and it became clear that the wind was not going to be an excuse for poor performances on this day. Conditions were maintain throughout the day with only a slight breeze building through the afternoon session.
Deer Park Archers competed in the Ladies Longbow, Ladies Recurve, Gents Recurve, Gents Barebow & Gents Compound categories and made an impressive set of final results. Well done to all.

Exmouth Archers GWAS Field Championships
Lucy Mason was our sole representative at the 2 day GWAS field Championships. Over 2 days excellent shooting in overcast mainly dry overcast conditions, Lucy won the Junior Competition and would have finished in 2nd place in the Senior Competition! She also recorded a GB Qualification score!

Cheltenham Archers – Agincourt shoot
Aaron a Dale, Ian of the Bowmen, Martin of the Squires, Lynn of the Wenches, Kevin All a Quiver and JB of the Fletchings all represented the club at the recent Agincourt shoot. This was an invitation only event for longbow and barebow archers. Great shooting by everyone and as you can see from the picture great outfits too.
Another good medal haul for our clubs members resulted in:
- Martin coming 2nd in the Animal shoot
- Lynn 2nd in the Wand
- Aaron 2nd in the Clout
- JB hitting 7 out of 7 in the 1 minute speed shoot (he would have scored more but he ran out of arrows)
- Kevin was runner up in the Last Man Standing and 3rd in the Slit Shot

Droitwich Double Worcester
This is a long running tournament (35 years) held this year at the Royal Grammar School in Droitwich. This is a well lit venue which is able to offer 14 targets for shooting. Organisation was good with the results being collected throughout the shoot, making the final results calculation far quicker than some other events.
Martin Tucker and John Dalton participated from the club against strong Recurve competition. John entered the Recurve morning event and Barebow afternoon event. At the end of the morning competition Martin and John both set PB’s of 252 for the first Worcester. Switching to Barebow in the afternoon, John set another PB of 245. Martin repeated his morning score of 252 finishing on a total of 504 and setting a new PB for the Double Worcester.
Results
- Richard Giles (from Redditch C O A) won Gents Recurve Double Worcester with a score of 582
- Martin set new PB’s for the Worcester and Double Worcester rounds and finished 18th
- John was 1st in the Barebow category against a strong field of 1 (himself) setting a new PB for the Worcester.
