Deer Park welcomed archers from all over the country for the first event in the UK’s first Inclusive Archery Series at Balcarras School.
Of the 46 people to take part, 31 were archers with a disability which is the highest percentage we have seen at any of our inclusion shoots. We saw Debbie Young of Talisman Bowmen claim a potential new National Record and lots of archers achieve excellent scores in a very supportive and relaxed environment.
Event 1 was a Portsmouth with a second Portsmouth in February. The highest score achieved by the archers will be used to set a target for the outdoor event in July where the archer achieving closest to or even outperforming their target will become the Inclusion Series champion.
“After feedback from the archers at our annual Inclusion shoot, now in it’s twelfth year, we saw the need for a series aimed at archers with a disability. The seniors and juniors have their national tours to focus on so we wanted to give archers with a disability an opportunity to experience something similar,” said Tournament Organiser Peter Sisson.
Archery GB sent a videography team to support the event and help promote inclusive archery across the country. We hope that this inspires other clubs to come on board, hold an inclusion event and turn the Deer Park Inclusion Series into a national series, giving all of our archers with disabilities access to more opportunities to shoot.
