2 Members selected for GB Running Archery Team !
Congratulations to Ethan Hendry (u21) and Ian Green for being selected to represent Great Britain in the 2025 European Run Archery Cup taking place in Paris, France! Last week we had a very successful junior session focused on providing members the opportunity to participate in running archery and continue to grow our participation.
Congratulations to Ella Gibson being selected for the European Field Championships in September in Poland!
Quick Archer Review!
Well done to all our international archers over the past few weeks, from Ella winning at the World Cup in Madrid, to Chloe and Grace representing GB at the World University Games in Germany. Chloe also won the last leg of the National Series.
Stu being selected for the European 3D Championships in Serbia and Harriet and Lily representing GB in Slovenia at the European Youth Cup where they secured team Gold with Lily (age 13) securing individual bronze in the U18s.
Also well done to Sam (age 14) who is ranked an amazing 6th (out of 317) in the adult men’s category and recently selected to represent England at the Youth Festival!
In the Ladies Compound category 6 of our members are in the top 26 in the national rankings!
Longbows are well represented with Kevin & Judy both ranked 4 and each winning at the recent National over 50’s Championships. Grace (21) is also ranked at 6!
We have a record number of archers competing at domestic level, across all the disciplines, recent successes include Eva (age 10) breaking the British U12 record that stood for 13 years held by one of our members!
Apologies to any members that we have missed, so many club successes it is proving difficult to keep up!
Lastly more congratulations and big thank yous to all our coaches, parents for their support and volunteers that help to maintain our facilities!
Environmental News
With the extreme weather it is over 6 weeks since we cut the main site which is beginning to look a little sad, however the fruit trees have been doing amazingly! Record crops of Mirabelle Plumbs, Pears, Elderberry and Sloes have all helped to produce our Deer Park jams and wines!
Our Oak and Maple Trees have also produced abundant crops, the only plant that has not done well is the Hazel, not a single nut across the site. We are pleased to say that, helped by a couple of deep watering sessions our 25 orchard trees are flourishing.
We have spotted Weasels on regular occasions, judging by all the earth moving our badgers are flourishing and the number of pure black wild rabbits continues to increase. Green Woodpeckers are certainly residents, as are Tawney Owls, lots more sightings of Red Kites but fewer sightings of Buzzards. On the insect front, massive population of Ladybirds, lots of very large Bumble bees but fewer butterflies. Hopefully the installation of our Insect Hotels will help recovery.
We are currently taking orders for Hedgehog boxes, all made from recycled materials.
Facilities Update
The Field Course Shooting Tower, made from recycled materials, is making great progress and will be ready for the 24 target two day 3D County Championships which is already fully booked.
The new Environmental Support Product Store (made from recycled materials) is also nearing completion.
Our Extension Project, due to material resourcing issues will not be completed until early September but it is already looking impressive. The specialist rain water storage planters that will be installed around the Extension will be one of the last elements to be fitted and fit well with our Environmental Stewardship. activities
Our Extension will look very different by the end of this week!
The new Club House floor has been completed, stunning and we have taken the opportunity to redesign the internal layout!
G4S Health Awareness Event for Men and Women
We are again supporting this local Community event organised by G4S, with support from the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust
This event has been organised to test overall health and is open to Ladies as well as Gentlemen. The reality is that we have a number of members currently being treated for a range of the conditions listed below.
The tests offered are: Prostate Cancer Screening, Cholesterol, Diabetes, Thyroid, Itiron count, Liver Function and Kidney Function, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Female Hormones (Menoopause).

ArcheryGB Ontarget Refresh Programme
Having been engaged with the programme since 2010 and benefitted in so many ways we are fully committing to the 2025 Refresh Programme.
OnTarget is not an accreditation scheme, but a development programme, providing a framework for clubs to proactively plan and pursue their own development goals, with the full support of the OnTarget community.
We have appointed a sub-committee of 5 to oversee our plans across all 4 specialisms: Community, Young People, Progression and Performance. This group will also ensure that areas for development outside of the 4 identified specialisms are included in the development goals.
