Report on our Annual Awards Evening

Having missed the previous 2 years celebrations due to COVID it was great to return to something like normality and celebrate another year of great achievements combined with so much fun and camaraderie!

The evening was planned around the showing of a number of superbly created highlights of the past 3 years, something to eat, some table/team quizzes and Rock & Roll Bingo. David Ponton was the Compere for the evening.

Our Guest of Honour was Kate Lawton, stepping down from the role of Director of Finance after more than 10 years with the Club. The inscription on the glass trophy is a testament to Kate’s contribution to the Club: “Thank you for helping to shape our future!”

Following presentations to Beginners Course Graduates for the past 3 years, AGB Progress Badges, 252 Progress Achievements and Classification Badges the ArcheryGB Handicap Improvement Medals were presented to Lily Partridge and Darren Ward.

Sam Bowden was presented with the ‘Outstanding Achiever in first year of shooting’, including multiple British Records, winning the Junior Masters backed up with lots of application at practice sessions and volunteering!

Stephen Bourke – Regional Development Officer for ArcheryGB presented the AGB Performance Club of the Year Award to Dan Gill and Julian Kellett on behalf of our amazing coaching team.

The Young Person of the Year was awarded to Jemima Hollingworth who has consistently demonstrated the Deer Park values both as an archer and volunteer!

Honorary Life Memberships

Congratulations to Ella Gibson, Lucy Mason and James Howse becoming Honorary Life Members recognising their outstanding shooting achievements. Ella was unable to attend as she was busy winning the Kings of Archery Tournament in the Netherlands, again congratulations!

Mary Crang – Club Secretary, a founder member (25 years), held posts including ChairPerson and Treasurer, volunteers for so many of the essential activities to keep the club running, was given a standing ovation on becoming our first Honorary Life Member as a volunteer!

Just a quick promotion of our field course , open to visitors and venue for our Annual Winter Field League. Beginners welcome, great fun!
